Gravity (and other attractions) by Un-Label Performing Arts Company
The culmination of years of work by European artists and scientists, this dance-theatre duet marries modern movement with poetic audio description and accessibility in the arts.
Without seeing an apple fall, Isaac Newton may not have realised that a force of attraction exists between matter, i.e. gravity. A similar force draws Lolo and deaf dancer Tiki together, as they sit side by side on a subway train, taking audiences on a journey that delves into different types of attraction in a magnetic show combining movement, sign language, and poetic audio description.
Inspired by a co-study involving artists and researchers from Armenia, Germany, Greece and Italy, Gravity (and other attractions) examines how accessibility and creativity can be applied to the performing arts to reach a wider audience.
Conceived, dramatised, and directed by Greek writer-director Costas Lamproulis, with the script written by Belgian poet, playwright, and performer Max Greyson, the production features contemporary dancers Sarah “Sarena” Bockers and Dodzi Dougban, both from Germany, who also co-choreographed the production.
Artistically diverse and strikingly creative, Un-Label Performing Arts Company brings together artists from all over Europe for its fascinating performances. The group’s works set new standards for emerging artists with and without disabilities. Un-Label further fosters new talents through open workshops and masterclasses while connecting international stakeholders, scientists, and experts to its inclusive cultural scene by hosting symposia, research projects, and summits.
All the content of works are independently produced by the creative team, and do not reflect the views or opinions of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
Audiences must follow the anti-pandemic measures and arrangements by the organiser. The arrangements are subject to change in light of COVID-19 and government measures. Please check the “No Limits” page for the latest notices.
