“Found without Seeing” Touring Performances - 無限亮 No Limits

Sometimes, barrier-free access to the human heart is as important as access to facilities.

From the perspective of the visually impaired, this dance video explores one’s limitations and the distance between one another. The choreographer uses dance to depict the relationship between visually impaired people and guide dogs, and how they achieve tacit understanding. Everyone has different abilities and limitations. By taking our first step to connect with others, we can break through the barriers and begin to build an inclusive society, and the first barrier to overcome is our mindset.

Loneliness is not always caused by being alone, but failure to resonate with others.

A beautiful encounter happens in a split second, but the beauty of understanding each other lasts forever.

Sharing an experience together is the first step to building a relationship.

If you can find the one who synchronises with you, even a three-legged race is not a limitation.

Choreographer’s Note

If there was a sixth sense, I would have said that it was the feeling of one’s heart. Only by talking to our own heart and by knowing ourselves can we embrace the present moment and accept others. We all have our flaws and no one is perfect.

Combining arts education and artistic creation requires constant considerations. Aesthetics cannot be the sole consideration, as students will find it difficult to understand an abstract piece. On the other hand, being overly narrative will also limit their imagination. My original intention is to encourage the audience to think while experiencing the arts.

Dance is the technique, camera the media, words the guide, and sounds the background… If we can feel them with our heart, even just a little bit, it will still be an arts experience.

Thanks to the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for co-presenting “No Limits” and for bringing programmes to schools and the community. I hope the pandemic will be contained soon so that the distance between us can return to normal.
